Join Mac Kay's 2IM Group LLC. in the Chicagoland region as an experienced Construction Inspector. You will perform physical on‑site observation, documentation, and verification of public roadway heavy infrastructure construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract plans, specifications, codes, and regulations.

Typical assignments include asphalt and concrete paving, structural concrete, retaining and barrier walls, barricades, guardrails, fences, utilities, sewer systems, earthwork, and bridge construction. The position requires passing the IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities course, a valid Illinois driver's license, and willingness to work outdoors in varying temperatures and over rough terrain. Company‑provided PPE includes a vehicle with safety lights, a safety vest, safety glasses, a hard hat, and field measuring equipment.

• Monitor construction daily for conformance with contract documents.
• Observe and report on highway road improvements, underground utilities, traffic maintenance, erosion and sediment controls, and site infrastructure for new facilities.
• Review schedules, shop drawings, submittals, and schedule of values while consulting with the construction manager or Resident Engineer.
• Prepare daily reports accurately and on time, documenting all work observed.
• Attend construction meetings as required.
• Manage and answer contractor inquiries and issues.
• Communicate progress with oral and written reports, including photos, to the construction manager.
• Execute job‑specific quality assurance tasks.
• Track labor and equipment for potential T&M contract work.

• At least one year of construction inspection experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and verify construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
• Current driver’s license with a clean record and eligibility to drive company vehicles.
• Physical ability to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist, and work outdoors on uneven surfaces; exposure to weather extremes and rough terrain.
• Proficiency using smartphone applications for communication.
• Advanced mathematical skills for calculating areas, volumes, and distances.

• 15 or more years of construction inspection experience.
• Proficiency with Construction Management software.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or NICET Certification (Construction).

US Pay Range: $33 USD – $60 USD per hour.
