We are seeking a driven Cost Engineer to join our growing Chicago-area team supporting large-scale, high-impact construction projects across data centers, mission-critical facilities, commercial developments, and advanced manufacturing projects for global clients.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, with a strong foundation in construction estimating, cost control, budgeting, and commercial project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Support the development of project estimates, cost plans, budgets, and forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review drawings, specifications, quantities, and scope requirements to support accurate cost estimates and takeoffs.
- Assist with vendor prequalification, bid evaluations, bid leveling, procurement activities, and contractor appointment processes.
- Review vendor and subcontractor pricing, validate costs, and use benchmark data from comparable projects.
- Support value engineering, cost-saving initiatives, risk assessments, and commercial analysis.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, budget updates, cash flow forecasts, and project financial documentation.
- Assist with change order reviews, payment applications, invoicing, and resolution of commercial issues.
- Track project costs against approved budgets and identify potential cost variances or risks.
- Support final account preparation, audits, project closeout, and lessons-learned documentation.
- Utilize estimating software, takeoff tools, bid analysis sheets, cost databases, and change management documentation throughout project delivery.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Cost Management, or a related construction field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in construction estimating, cost engineering, cost management, quantity surveying, cost controls, or a related role.
- Experience supporting medium- to large-scale construction projects or programs.
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating, cost planning, budgeting, procurement strategies, value engineering, and commercial practices.
- Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, quantities, bids, and subcontractor/vendor proposals.
- Proficiency with estimating and cost management software, takeoff tools, Microsoft Excel, and related project controls tools.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a client-facing and collaborative project environment.
