Project Manager - Data Centers

Job Description

The Project Manager oversees electrical and technology construction projects with a primary focus on managing manpower, materials, and financial performance. Reporting to senior construction leadership, this role leads data center and commercial projects from planning through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and budget control while coordinating closely with field teams, customers, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

+ Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and quality control across all assigned projects.

+ Direct the efforts of project team members to establish accurate project budgets and cost estimates.

+ Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to the Project Coordinator to support project execution.

+ Manage labor volume and field resources, determining the types and levels of resources required at each project phase.

+ Establish, organize, and maintain project documentation in prescribed formats and distribute information clearly and promptly to team members and stakeholders.

+ Draft and submit contract change proposals and manage contract and subcontract changes resulting from scope adjustments.

+ Collaborate with field workers, owners, general contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.

+ Submit product, material, and service data to customers for review and approval, and coordinate approved items to be delivered and installed according to project timelines.

+ Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools, tracking progress against milestones and deliverables.

+ Coordinate material deliveries to the construction site to align with installation schedules and project needs.

+ Conduct project closeout activities and follow up to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements, documenting best practices and tools for future project execution.

+ Build, develop, and maintain business relationships that are essential to the ongoing success of the organization.

+ Locate, evaluate, and develop leads into viable project opportunities, secure new projects, and manage customer accounts.

+ Acquire necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of internal team members, third-party vendors, and subcontractors to deliver projects according to plans and specifications.

+ Apply knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Job Productivity Assurance and Control (JPAC), and Short Interval Scheduling (SIS) to plan and monitor project work.

+ Manipulate and extract data from project planning and tracking software to support forecasting, reporting, and decision-making.

+ Utilize or learn Agile Construction principles to improve project planning, execution, and productivity.

+ Support commercial construction and estimation activities, contributing to accurate bids and project proposals.

Essential Skills

+ Proven project management experience in the mechanical or electrical construction market.

+ Demonstrated strength in people management, including leading field teams and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.

+ Solid understanding of accounting principles and money management related to project financials, forecasting, and cost control.

+ Knowledge of electrical materials and their purchase costs, including sourcing and procurement considerations.

+

Experience with low voltage systems and related technology in commercial or data center environments.

+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive interactions with internal teams, customers, and partners.

+ Strong systemic organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documentation, schedules, and priorities.

+ Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel.

+ Ability to work with project planning and tracking software to analyze and report project data.

+ Familiarity with or willingness to learn Agile Construction principles.

+ Knowledge of commercial construction practices and estimation processes.
