Construction Manager

A national retail real estate developer is seeking a Construction Manager to join its Chicago headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong commercial construction management experience looking to transition to the owner/developer side, managing outside contractors across a national portfolio of redevelopment, tenant improvement, and capital improvement projects.

• Manage shopping center redevelopments, tenant improvements, capital projects, and future ground up developments
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously from preconstruction through closeout
• Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, and vendor payments
• Coordinate with Development, Leasing, Property Management, and Tenant Coordination teams
• Lead construction meetings and provide project reporting to executive leadership
• Oversee the performance of contractors, consultants, and project teams
• Provide technical guidance throughout design and construction while ensuring quality, budget, and schedule objectives are achieved

• 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience
• Strong understanding of how contractors operate, including contracts, budgeting, scheduling, and project execution
• Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Backgrounds in commercial, industrial, warehouse, healthcare, hospitality, mixed‑use, or retail construction are all welcome

• Approximately 25% travel
• Typically 1–2 day trips once per week supporting projects across a national portfolio
• Full time in-office presence in Chicago office when not traveling
