About the Opportunity
An established developer and general contractor seeks a Superintendent I to lead field operations on commercial construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area. The organization has built a reputation for delivering complex multifamily, mixed‑use, and commercial developments while maintaining a strong focus on quality, collaboration, and client satisfaction.
Position OverviewThe Superintendent I will manage day‑to‑day construction activities on assigned projects from groundbreaking through completion. This individual will serve as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, driving quality control initiatives, and ensuring a safe and productive jobsite.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all on‑site construction operations, including subcontractor coordination and supervision.
- Develop and maintain short‑term and long‑term project schedules.
- Drive project safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all OSHA and company standards.
- Manage site logistics, manpower planning, and construction sequencing.
- Conduct regular coordination meetings with trade partners and project stakeholders.
- Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify potential schedule and budget impacts and proactively implement corrective actions.
- Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning activities, and project turnover.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain schedule, budget, and project objectives.
- Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, and final client turnover.
- 5‑10 years of commercial construction experience.
- Previous experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Field Engineer on commercial projects.
- Strong background in multifamily, mixed‑use, hospitality, retail, or large‑scale commercial developments.
- Ability to lead subcontractor teams and maintain positive working relationships.
- Strong understanding of scheduling software, construction methods, and field operations.
- Experience reading construction documents and coordinating multiple trades.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Work on signature commercial and mixed‑use developments.
- Strong pipeline of projects and long‑term career stability.
- Highly collaborative environment with direct exposure to development and construction leadership.
