Superintendent

As a Superintendent, you will be based on the construction project site and will be responsible for field operations, onsite construction management, and ensuring the quality of work and materials is upheld. The Superintendent will ensure that the workers are implementing what is on the design plan, the progress of the project, and sees to it that the project is completed on time, and that all standards are met.

The Superintendent solves disputes in the field in a courteous and professional manner utilizing the specifications and drawings along with schedules to resolve fairly and in the best interest of the project.

The specifics of the role include:

• Planning for and using resources efficiently, always looking for ways to reduce costs, creating accurate and realistic budgets, tracking and adjusting budgets, contributing to budget planning.
• Working through problems with the subcontractor being cost and time effective.
• Being attentive to detail and accuracy, committed to excellence, looking for improvements continuously, monitoring quality levels, finding root cause of quality problems, owning/acting on quality problems.
• Communicating expectations and the importance of safety. Following up and ensuring safety audits are completed accurately and timely. Identifying critical issues and assisting in the development of improvement procedures.
• Inspecting work for compliance with company standards. Requiring poor work to be corrected immediately to minimize quality issues being placed on the punch list.
• Having good listening skills, building strong relationships, being flexible/open-minded, negotiating effectively, soliciting performance feedback, and handling constructive criticism.

Requirements include:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, related degree, or equivalent in experience.
• 5 or more years' experience in installation of high-performing curtain wall façade systems, on projects of 30+ million, ideally with design/build experience.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent is a must.
• Ability to effectively supervise construction employees and to accomplish work within budget and schedule.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with all construction groups - management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A solid understanding of the company's Safety-First philosophy and practice.
• An above-average working knowledge of technology and related resources.
• Very strong work ethic with the willingness to travel and/or relocate.
• Must be able to lift large objects that weigh at least 60 lbs.
• Ability to walk unlevel terrain and job sites several times a day, scale scaffolding and temporary stairs measuring many stories in height.
• Regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and risk to electrical shock.
• Noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
• Motivated, hardworking, team player.

Compensation

• The salary range for this position considers a wide range of factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to:
  Education, qualifications, skills, training, experience, certifications, internal equity, and location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The Clayco Nationwide salary range for this position is approximately $85,000 - $110,000 +/- annually (not adjusted for location).
