Role Description The Senior Estimator/PM is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for leading project estimating and managing drywall projects from pre-construction through closeout. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing plans and specifications, preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, developing cost estimates, and preparing bids and proposals. The role oversees project budgets, schedules, and change orders, coordinates with general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, and ensures materials and labor are aligned with project requirements.
The Senior Estimator/PM tracks project progress, addresses on-site issues, leads site meetings, and supports field teams to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards. This position also contributes to client relationships, participates in negotiations, and provides regular reporting to company leadership on project performance and forecasting.
- Experience with Union commercial
- Quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation for drywall or interior construction projects.
- Project management skills covering scheduling, budget control, contract administration, and coordination of field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, general contractors, field supervisors, and vendors.
- Proficiency with construction software and tools (e.g., OST/QB, project management platforms, MS Office). Experience with drywall-specific tools and systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Previous experience in commercial drywall, framing, or interior trades at an estimator or project manager level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
- Understanding of construction safety standards, building codes, and industry best practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Chicago, IL, with occasional travel to project locations as needed.
