Safety Manager

Project Duration:
October 1, 2026 – August 31, 2028

Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all project safety programs for the baggage handling system (BHS) installation and related airport construction projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, airport safety requirements, client standards, and company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the project.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop and administer the project-specific Safety Management Plan.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify corrective actions.
  • Lead safety orientations for new employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FAA, airport authority, and client safety requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while preparing detailed reports.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and ongoing safety training.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and drills.
  • Maintain all required safety documentation, permits, and regulatory records.
  • Partner with project management to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of construction safety experience, preferably on large infrastructure or airport projects.
  • OSHA 500 or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or similar certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
General Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in active airport construction environments and operational facilities.
  • May require working nights, weekends, holidays, or extended hours to support airport operational requirements.
  • Must comply with all airport security requirements and successfully obtain and maintain required security clearances and badging.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around active construction operations.
  • Travel within the project site is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk extensive construction sites daily.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in active construction environments for extended periods.
