Director Of Safety And Field Compliance

A growing electrical infrastructure and specialty contracting organization is seeking an experienced Director of Safety and Field Compliance to lead its safety strategy across a multi-state operating footprint.

The company delivers electrical construction, communications infrastructure, low-voltage systems, controls, and specialty technology solutions for customers across data centers, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, commercial construction, and industrial facilities.

This is a senior operational leadership role responsible for strengthening safety performance, field compliance, training, incident management, and risk prevention across multiple operating divisions. The successful candidate will work closely with project executives, field leaders, human resources, legal, and insurance partners to establish consistent safety standards across the organization.

The role will oversee a regional safety team and will have significant interaction with senior operational leadership. Regular travel to project sites and regional offices will be required.

Candidates should be based within reasonable commuting distance of the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of company-wide safety programs and field-compliance standards
  • Manage, mentor, and develop regional safety professionals
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve safety performance across active construction sites
  • Establish consistent procedures for incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up
  • Conduct reviews of serious incidents, near misses, and developing areas of operational risk
  • Monitor safety metrics and identify trends requiring corrective action
  • Develop practical safety programs for electrical, technology, and specialty construction environments
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and other safety regulations
  • Support project teams during customer audits and major project mobilizations
  • Oversee safety training, supervisor education, and field leadership development
  • Evaluate subcontractor safety practices and support contractor qualification processes
  • Work with insurance, legal, claims, and risk-management partners following significant incidents
  • Improve safety reporting and executive visibility into operational performance
  • Participate in preconstruction planning for complex or high-risk projects
  • Support integration of acquired businesses into company safety standards
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout field and corporate operations
