Senior Project Manager – Electrical Construction
Tek Pro is partnered with a well-established commercial electrical contractor in Chicagoland in their search for Senior PM! You will oversee complex electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This leadership role is responsible for managing multiple projects, preparing estimates, coordinating field operations, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Projects include high-rise residential developments, office buildings, mixed-use facilities, healthcare and institutional buildings, sports and entertainment venues, manufacturing facilities, and other large-scale commercial construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial electrical construction, excellent estimating and project management skills, and a thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Chicago Electrical Code.
Position is open due to significant business growth, with an influx of high-profile electrical projects for professional sports arenas and high-rises in Chicago.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial electrical construction projects from award through final completion.
- Develop and review project estimates, budgets, proposals, and change orders.
- Coordinate with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and field leadership to ensure successful project execution.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements and potential risks.
- Oversee project scheduling, procurement, manpower planning, and subcontractor coordination.
- Monitor project costs, productivity, and profitability while proactively addressing schedule or budget impacts.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable electrical codes, customer specifications, and quality standards.
- Lead project meetings, manage RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and customer communication.
- Mentor project managers, project engineers, and field personnel.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, and project partners.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of commercial electrical construction project management experience.
- Strong estimating experience with the ability to prepare accurate bids, budgets, and cost forecasts.
- Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), Chicago Electrical Code, and commercial construction practices.
- Experience managing projects such as high-rise residential buildings, office towers, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, sports venues, manufacturing plants, or other large commercial developments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
