About the Opportunity
Our client is a fully integrated developer and general contractor specializing in design-build industrial construction throughout Illinois. They deliver high-quality light industrial facilities from concept through completion, providing clients with a seamless building experience. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Superintendent with a proven background in precast concrete and tilt-up construction. Majority of projects will be in the cold storage division but could be other project types as well.
Position Summary
The Superintendent will lead all on-site construction activities for ground-up light industrial projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires hands-on leadership, exceptional planning skills, and experience managing the unique sequencing and coordination required for precast and tilt-up buildings.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day field operations on ground-up light industrial projects throughout Illinois.
- Lead all phases of construction from sitework through turnover, with an emphasis on structural concrete, precast, and tilt-up operations.
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager and subcontractors.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal project teams to maintain production goals.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct daily site walks, quality inspections, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Identify and proactively resolve field issues to minimize schedule impacts.
- Maintain high standards for quality control, documentation, and project reporting.
- Coordinate inspections, commissioning activities, punch lists, and project closeout.
- Foster a collaborative jobsite culture while maintaining accountability for schedule, quality, and safety.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of Superintendent experience on ground-up commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading precast concrete or tilt-up construction projects is required.
- Experience delivering light industrial, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar facilities.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor management.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to build strong relationships in the field.
- Proficiency with construction technology such as Procore, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
