Superintendent I - Construction

This role supports field operations by assisting in the day-to-day execution of construction projects under the direction of senior field leadership. The Superintendent I is responsible for coordinating site activities, tracking progress, and ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and quality standards. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to learning, and the ability to contribute to a well-organized, safe, and collaborative jobsite environment while building foundational leadership and construction management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily field operations under the direction of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
• Support tracking of daily work activities and production progress.
• Maintain site organization, cleanliness, and basic safety standards.
• Observe trade activities and report progress or issues to field leadership.
• Verify work is being performed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Participate in site walks to gain understanding of project execution.
• Document field conditions, issues, and completed work.
• Support implementation of established field processes and procedures.
• Assist with manpower tracking and daily reporting.
• Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules with trade partners.
• Partner with Project Managers to maintain detailed project schedules.
• Monitor critical path activities and long-lead items.
• Create pull planning and phase planning sessions.
• Monitor schedule performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Coordinate deliveries, material staging, and site access.
• Track progress of scheduled activities and communicate delays or conflicts to project leadership.
• Assist in coordinating daily trade partner activities to support planned sequencing and workflow.
• Assist with communication and coordination with trade partners and vendors.
• Attend coordination and progress meetings and document key takeaways.
• Support project execution from mobilization through closeout.
• Track trade partner work progress and report performance concerns.
• Support documentation for change orders and field directives.
• Manage quality control process to ensure inspections are successful.
• Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements.
• Assist in conducting safety walks and identifying potential hazards.
• Promote a safety-first mindset in daily activities.
• Demonstrate willingness to learn and take direction from field leadership.
• Support team coordination and communication efforts.
• Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Support collection of project data, photos, and updates for internal use.

Essential

Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in commercial interior construction (5-8 years if exceptionally strong).
• 3+ years of experience in Chicago commercial interior projects.
• Experience with Procore, Microsoft Projects, and Outbuild.
• OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

• Experience with projects ranging from $1M to $10M+.
• Ability to represent the company professionally to clients, especially for senior roles.

Work Environment:

On-site work on commercial interior projects in downtown Chicago, primarily in workplace settings but also including restaurant and retail projects. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 6am to 2pm.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $160000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
