CNBC is the global leader in business news. We create world-class content for CNBC in the United States, Asia, Europe, Africa and beyond, covering the economy and global stock markets for investors and professionals. CNBC also delivers news and information through ,  and CNBC Plus.

Our options reporter will be based in Chicago. The successful candidate will cover the options market, broadcast breaking news and uncover stories from the options floor, and interview key news makers and market participants live on television. The candidate will also write stories for CNBC’s digital coverage team, suggest storylines, and maintain close contact with traders while watching data and market-moving action from the Cboe.

• Work independently and with a producer and our digital team to produce original business news content.
• Handle production responsibilities including research, conducting interviews, and reporting on the options market.
• Pitch story ideas and work on assigned stories developed by the editorial planning team.
• Establish and maintain relationships with traders, investors and executives at the Cboe and in the options business overall.
• Communicate clearly with producers in Englewood Cliffs.
• Report for both TV and CNBC digital; write stories for both TV and CNBC digital.
• Take ownership of the segment from pitch to production, including updating CNBC guest tracker, booking feeds, collecting relevant video, working with editors to cut elements for segment, summarizing pre-interview for reporter or anchor, ensuring correct spelling and pronunciation of guest names, and adhering to CNBC's booking policies.
• Plan and contribute to digital and social coverage when needed.
• Keep up-to-date on the universe of coverage, flag upcoming events in designated sectors to the CNBC editorial planning team.

Hybrid:
This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

What you’ll bring:

• At least 3 years of reporting in a live television environment and/or reporting for a digital business news outlet. Experience covering the options market.

Desired Characteristics:

• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments, while working with multiple producers and editors on the broadcast and digital teams.
• Experience with the options market.
• Experience with live reporting.
• Must be willing to travel, often with short notice.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in business news.
