Audience Engagement Producer

Responsibilities

• Package content that encourages audience engagement to stay on the page longer or view more pages per visit
• Update News Nation digital platforms (website, app, email, push alerts) with breaking news and topical news of the day
• Craft compelling headlines, layouts, ledes and snippets that encourage followers to engage with our journalism
• Optimize News Nation content for site, You Tube and other platforms using SEO best practices and data-informed layout decisions
• Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met
• Pitch stories daily and write stories specifically in trending verticals
• Assist in the curation and production of daily newsletters
• Create digital-first content that accomplishes the News Nation mission and differentiates our brand from our competitors
• This position will be based in Chicago or New York.

• 3+ years working as a digital producer or audience engagement specialist in a major market or national newsroom.
• Experience managing and curating homepages + app
• Experience with optimizing content using SEO best practices for site, You Tube and other platforms
• Strong news judgement and ability to determine when local stories have national appeal
• Editing experience a plus
• Experience working with Chartbeat, Photoshop, AHREFS, Google Trends, newsletter platforms like Sailthru and Aigeon a plus
• Excellent communicator, both oral and written
• Early morning, late night and/or weekend shifts may be required
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
