About the RoleWe call our collection of in‑person and virtual experiences “Originals”, which are led by our expert host team. Our event hosts bring their authentic personalities and professionalism to internally crafted content, delivering consistent, high‑quality, stealth team‑building events. Our most common feedback from participants is that our events are more fun than expected.
What You’ll DoAs an In‑Person Host Contractor, you will host and cohost Originals events in the Chicago metropolitan area, with possible light regional travel as needed. Events and locations vary from high‑stakes guacamole competitions in client offices or hotel ballrooms to scavenger hunts at the Field Museum.
You will work independently with minimal on‑site supervision, ordering supplies, self‑reporting to venues, learning material quickly, and adapting to any twists or turns on the day.
- As a Lead Host, you will connect with the client before the event, deliver vibrant vibes on the day, and manage the event.
- As a Cohost, you will support the host, split supply load, keep score, run tech elements, DJ, take photos, and help clean up.
- Solo‑hosting covers all responsibilities.

Requirements- Age 21+.
- Reliable transportation within Chicago metropolitan area.
- Flexible weekday availability (10am–7pm, occasionally earlier/later).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Extremely dependable self‑starter.
- Comfortable being in and sharing the spotlight.
- Ability to learn and memorize content and deliver naturally.
- Ability to think on feet, improvise, and creatively problem‑solve.
- Willingness to attend and pass training, including skill demos.
- Ability to stand 2–4 hours and manage supplies up to 30 lbs.
- Willing to use our communication platforms (texts, email, Slack).
- Performance background in theater, improv, stand‑up comedy, MC‑ing, tour guiding.
- Comfortable with breaking the fourth wall and crowd work.
- Experience in customer‑facing service positions (serving tables, retail, front‑of‑house).
- Bonus: creative writing experience (play writing, sketch comedy, marketing copy, blogging, novelist).
- Events are compensated with a flat rate plus gratuity.
- Lead Host: $100–$125 per 90‑minute event (~$40/hr) + gratuity.
- Cohost: $60–$100 per 90‑minute event (~$25/hr) + gratuity.
- On‑site time: 2.75–3.5 hours per 90‑minute event, including set‑up and clean‑up.
- Estimated workload: 1–3 events per month, potentially more or less.
- Average gratuity: $200 per event (75% to Lead Host, 25% to Cohost).
- $22/hr to learn new content or run errands, reimbursed for expenses.
