ChicagoCAC employees are expected to perform their job duties and act in a manner consistent with the Core Values of the organization.
ResponsibilitySummary:
Ensemble Members are part-time employees who can perform all Imagination Theater programming.
Primary Responsibilities:Rehearsals
New ensemble members attend all scheduled rehearsals during August and September, unless prior conflicts are approved.
Returning ensemble members attend half of all rehearsals, including certain mandatory rehearsal days.
Additional rehearsals are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Scheduling/Availability
Ensemble members submit their availability two weeks at a time on a bi-weekly basis. Ensemble members are asked to give three weekday mornings of availability, unless prior conflicts have been approved.
Once casting has been sent (every other Thursday), ensemble members are free to schedule gigs or events during non-scheduled times.
Pre-Performance
Ensemble members are expected to be memorized and prepared for all performances throughout the school year.
Performance
Ensemble members meet at the CAN Hope space at the call time assigned when casting is distributed and confirmed the day before via email.
Ensemble members are expected to help load/unload equipment into the car and set up the curtain and sound system at the performance site. The cast carpools to the site.
Ensemble members are expected to wear their uniform at all times while on call and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Ensemble members are expected to be able to speak loudly and clearly, perform in character (including some challenging characters with the intent to harm a child, for the purpose of teaching safety skills), and remain focused during discussions between scenes.
Post Performance:
Ensemble members are expected to help unload equipment at the office after performances conclude.
Discretion Supervisory Responsibilities RelationshipsQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, or equivalent experience
Strong performance, memorization, vocal projection, and character portrayal skills
Experience working with Theater of the Oppressed and Improvisation is a plus

- Taxable spending may be used for health club membership, fitness activities, tuition reimbursement, student loan repayment, among other options.
- Paid Time Off ("PTO"): PTO starts accruing the first day of employment and accrues at a rate of 35 days in a 12-month period.
- PTO days are used for all days off, including holidays and sick time so you have maximum flexibility in the use of your PTO.
- Timing of vacations may be dependent on client needs, as that's our first priority.
- PTO goes up to 40 days after 5 years.
- Additional PTO for FMLA-related reasons up to 20 days.
- A remote work policy that provides flexibility in work hours so long as operational needs are met.
- Regular expert training on evidence-based therapy modalities, which includes being able to earn Continuing Education Units.
