Sports Anchor

• Presents sports stories, updates, and game summaries for broadcast across all platforms in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
• Writes, orders, and balances sports news, stories, and feature content to create compelling broadcasts.
• Writes content for the website, podcast platforms, and other eMedia outlets, while interacting with listeners and users on social media.
• Conducts interviews with a wide array of sports guests and news makers.
• Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Assists in researching, copy editing, and coordinating sports programming; responds to breaking sports news and urgent newsroom situations as required.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required.
• Minimum five years’ experience in on‑air hosting.
• Superior on‑air presence.
• Excellent news judgement with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, news makers and issues.
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritise assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution.
• Flexibility to work any shift including overnights.

Demonstrates expertise in Broadcast Journalism with a strong on‑air presence and the ability to create engaging sports content across multiple platforms. Proficient in conducting interviews, managing breaking news, and maintaining high journalistic standards.
