Instrumental Ensembles Student Assistant

This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:

The Instrumental Ensembles Assistant will be responsible for setting up/striking rehearsal materials for University Wind Ensemble (Monday evening), University Jazz Ensemble/Combos (Tuesday and Thursday afternoons): rearranging chairs/music stands, bringing extra music/pencils/binders, arranging air purifiers, etc. In addition, the assistant will aid in the passing out of, logging loans of and collecting of ensemble music, as well as maintaining the organization of the instrumental music library.

The Instrumental Ensembles Assistant will also be required work in tandem with Music Department Faculty, the Vocal Ensembles Assistant, and Music Department Lab Assistants to aid in the setting up and tearing down of materials for Music Department concerts and events.

MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY

Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Familiarity with Google Docs/Sheets. Ability to set and maintain a regular weekly routine of setting up/tearing down rehearsal materials, as well as the physical ability to move chairs/music stands/amplifiers, and organize/file physical sheet music in coordination with entries in the digital instrumental library. Applicant should also be willing to work collaboratively with other student employees and Music Department Supervisors.

Hours:

Between 8-12 hours a week. Weekly set-up/tear-down should take about 45-60 minutes twice (three times) a week. Work in the library should average 6 hours a week. Concert weekends will require extra time (as much as 3 hours per event). We inspire success by working together to provide meaningful, personalized service in a spirit of excellence.
