Art Instructor
Make a Difference Every Day
The Art Instructor oversees arts programming in an Art Department room that encourages participants to express themselves in mixed media art. The individual who fills this role will support the creativity of participants by encouraging them to see themselves as artists and persons who have a contribution to make for others. This Instructor will work with deadlines and expectations both individually and with Art Team members.
Art pieces are created with the intention to be auctioned off at several Misericordia events throughout the year. The Instructor must prove to be willing to collaborate with those from Misericordia and the larger community to ensure the highest standards of professionalism and representation of Misericordia.

Pay
$21-$23 per hour
What You Need
- Ability to supervise residents as they bring their creativity to life
- Applicant must provide a portfolio (digital or website)
- Minimum of one-year experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities
- High level of creativity and passion for art education and production
- Ability to develop lesson plans, goals and objectives
- A high degree of professionalism and teamwork skills
- Committed to ensuring the rights of the residents
- Ability to develop quality services with an emphasis on art programming
- Committed to meeting Misericordia’s high environmental, personal care and active treatment standards.
- Ability to organize, manage resources, meet deadlines and work independently
- Ability to demonstrate reliability, flexibility and adaptability
- Ability to meet DT essential functions
- Ability to work with a variety of volunteers and visitors and tours
