Position Title: Welcome Desk Attendant – Bi‑Lingual
Location / Department: Adele and Robert Stern Red Shield Community Center
Reports to (Title): Corps Officer

Pay Range: $17.60 - $21.11
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Guests and Visitors
- Ensure the most enjoyable experience for all Red Shield Englewood visitors.
- Provide customer service contact for visitors and answer calls promptly.
- Provide direction and answer questions as needed.
- Maintain information materials so visitors have access to needed material.
- Maintain awareness of all Red Shield center programs to share information with guests.
- Greet guests and visitors enthusiastically and cheerfully.
- Act as the primary phone‑answering agent.
- Answer all incoming calls quickly and politely, answering basic questions about facility‑wide events and programs.
- Maintenance and Safety
- Maintain all public and restricted areas in a neat and clean fashion, including cleaning equipment, removing trash, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and wiping down the welcome desk.
- Ensure guest safety by immediately rectifying or reporting any potentially unsafe conditions to the Corps Officer or Administration staff.
- Assist and direct visitors to avoid crowded conditions and maximize service efficiency.
- Report any suspicion of child abuse to the Corps Officer or Administration Staff.
- Generate legible and accurate accident and incident reports as required and forward them to the supervisor within established time frames.
- Notify security of any problems in the registration area.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bi‑Lingual – Spanish preferred.
- One year of experience in customer service with administrative duties.
- Experience with a computer‑based work environment preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Lotus Notes).
Commit only Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
Keep the Marketing Manager informed of all critical issues relating to the area of responsibility.
Adhere to all Army policies and procedures while carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
Physical Demands / Work Environment- Required to perform moderate physical work.
- Regularly use standard office equipment and a PC.
- May be required to participate in community center activities.
- Work environment includes a community center with a medium to high noise level.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
- Exhibit a professional style that responds to guests’ expectations, needs, and concerns.
- Provide a service orientation and excellent guest relations, anticipating and responding to client, employee, and management needs.
- Work appropriately with a culturally and socio‑economically diverse client population.
- Handle challenging customer situations.
- Multi‑task and remain calm under pressure.
- Know the Army’s history, mission, structure, services, policies, and procedures.
- Understand customer service principles, guest relations, and security protocols.
- Promote the mission of The Salvation Army and integrate Christian faith and services in the community center setting.
The individual will be evaluated on the effectiveness of outcomes, timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
Performance reviews will be conducted at 30, 60, and 90 days.
