The Dental Hygienist provides essential preventive care to patients of
The Ark’s free dental clinic. This role focuses on delivering high-quality oral hygiene care and patient education while working collaboratively with our dentist and medical leadership to ensure our community members receive professional care in an environment of dignity and respect.
What You’ll Do
- Provide Preventive Dental Care: Perform cleanings, periodontal maintenance, and other hygiene services within the scope of licensure; document all findings accurately in patient records..
- Empower Through
Education:
Teach patients effective oral hygiene practices and basic health maintenance in a respectful, accessible manner tailored for a free-clinic setting. - Support Clinic Operations: Work closely with the dentist, dental assistant, and Director of Medical Services to ensure efficient patient flow and coordinated care.
- Maintain Clinical Standards: Adhere to strict infection control procedures, manage room turnover, and follow all clinic safety protocols.
- Foster Positive Patient Experiences: Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, ensuring their visit is grounded in compassion and care.
What You’ll Bring
- Education & Licensure: Active Illinois Dental Hygienist license and current CPR certification required .
- Experience: Previous clinical experience as a dental hygienist; experience working with diverse or underserved populations is a plus.
- Strong clinical knowledge of preventive dentistry and infection control standards.
- Kind, compassionate demeanor and a patient
-centered approach. - Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Cultural humility and appreciation for Jewish values and traditions.
- Comfort working independently in a mission-driven, free-clinic environment.
