Dental Hygienist

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are looking for a Registered Dental Hygienist– to provide professional dental services to our WNC community.

The position is full-time with benefits, and the candidate may work 30 to 40 hours per week. The days and hours worked are negotiable. 1-hour recall appointments, single column, 8-9 patients per day.

Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene education program

Satisfactory completion of educational program and clinical rotations

Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Dental Hygienist in North Carolina

2 Years’ Experience preferred

Local Anesthesia Certification

Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian

• Take, review, and update medical history
• Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
• Take and develop dental x-rays
• Remove calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments
• Apply fluorides or other cavity-preventing agents to arrest dental decay
• Provide individualized dental hygiene education and counseling to patients
• Work shifts on Mobile Dental Unit as assigned
