The University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry (UIC COD) is a leading provider of oral health education, clinical care and research. The College of Dentistry is the largest oral health college in the State of Illinois and provides care for 35,000 patients a year. It has over 500 students seeking dental degrees, and it is the only research‑oriented dental school in Illinois.

Position

Summary

Dental Sterilization Technicians perform all duties associated with the sterilization process and dispensing of dental instruments, supplies and equipment used by the dental students and staff at the College of Dentistry.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of experience in a medical, health care, or laboratory setting or a closely related setting using sterile procedures, OR current certification as a Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have knowledge of dental instrumentation, procedures and dental materials, experience operating sterilizing machines and thermal disinfectors, and knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
