Healthcare Project Architect - Large Scale Hospitals

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Architect to lead the design and delivery of large-scale, complex hospital projects. The Project Architect will be responsible for translating clinical programming into efficient, code-compliant designs, managing multidisciplinary teams using Revit/BIM workflows, coordinating with clients and clinical stakeholders, and overseeing construction administration to successful project closeout. The ideal candidate combines deep healthcare architecture experience, technical leadership, and strong project management skills, and holds or is eligible for architectural licensure (NCARB/AIA participation preferred).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architectural design and delivery for large-scale hospital projects from programming through construction administration, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality goals are met.
  • Develop and produce coordinated construction documents and design deliverables using Revit and BIM processes; maintain model integrity and documentation standards.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams (MEP, structural, civil, medical equipment planners, IT, clinical engineers) to integrate building systems and clinical workflows into the architectural design.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare codes, standards and guidelines including FGI Guidelines, NFPA, ADA, CMS requirements, state licensing, and local codes.
  • Serve as primary client and clinical stakeholder liaison; lead design meetings, present design solutions, and incorporate stakeholder feedback into the project.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex healthcare issues such as infection control, sterile processing, HVAC requirements for critical care areas, and specialized room adjacencies.
  • Manage construction administration activities including clarifications, RFI responses, submittal review, site observation, ASIs, change management, and punch list coordination to ensure design intent is realized.
  • Perform QA/QC on drawings, specifications, and models; mentor project staff on best practices for healthcare design and Revit/BIM workflows.
  • Support project accounting and delivery through schedule tracking, fee management, risk identification, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Promote firm standards, knowledge sharing, and foster cross-discipline collaboration; contribute to practice development and pursuit efforts for healthcare projects.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Architecture (M.Arch or

    B.Arch) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Architect in the relevant jurisdiction; NCARB certification preferred and AIA membership a plus.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience focused on healthcare architecture with a proven record delivering large-scale hospital projects and complex healthcare facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Project Architect leading multi-million dollar hospital projects through design and construction.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and BIM coordination workflows; experience managing model-based project delivery and clash detection.
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare codes, FGI Guidelines, NFPA, ADA, CMS, and hospital design best practices, including infection control and clinical adjacencies.
  • Excellent technical design and detailing skills with experience preparing and reviewing construction documents and specifications.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and communicate effectively with clinical stakeholders and contractors.
  • Strong project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and construction administration experience.
  • Ability to mentor staff, foster collaborative teams, and contribute to business development and proposal efforts.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required and work flexible hours to meet project milestones.
