ROLE

A Studio Architectural Designer combines technical knowledge and creativity while working collaboratively with senior team members to produce functional and inspired spaces for PBD clients. A Studio Architectural Designer assists in the production of design documents, technical details, and specifications. A Studio Architectural Designer is instrumental in researching, compiling and recording information for assigned project work; directly contributing to successful documentation on multiple projects with varying deadlines.

STUDIO

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work collaboratively, as part of a team to ensure work is completed effectively
  • Understand client goals, project budget / schedule and internal targets for each project
  • Participate with team and design leaders in defining the "look & feel" for each project per the client’s goals while seeking creative and innovative solutions through appropriate research and documentation
  • Research architectural products / materials
  • Maintain architectural resource materials
  • Routine check / verification on tasks
  • Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
  • Support execution of documents with design intent and technical quality
  • Support team with generation of a project manual and specifications
  • Support processing submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI
  • Assist in Field Survey / Site Verification efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Visioning efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Programming efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Test Fit efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Space Planning efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Schematic Design efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Finish selection / specification efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Design Development efforts / documentation
  • Assist in producing digital and physical design presentations
  • Assist in Construction / Contract documents
  • Assist in Technical detailing efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Construction Administrative efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Punch List efforts / documentation
  • Assist in Project Close out efforts / documentation
  • Build knowledge of PBD standards and processes
  • Build knowledge of current, project local building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
  • Actively participate in post-project review and assist in updating PBD standards and/or procedures, as determined
  • Target 90%-95% min. billable
STUDIO ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER REQUIREMENTS
  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • Registration encouraged, but not required
  • AIA, NCARB, CID, LEED, WELL credentials preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with Revit, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and MS Office
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Enscape and Plan Grid
  • Solid communication skills along with verbal and graphic skills
  • Familiarity with technical aspects of an interiors project, with ability to work alongside teammates on project deliverables
  • Build working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction and building structures
  • Build working awareness of current, relevant industry trends
  • Participate in pitches for new work, as required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when representing PBD
  • Foresight to know when to ask for direction, clarification, or help
  • Willingness to work extended business hours from time to time to accommodate deadlines
  • Experience creating digital and physical presentations
  • Experience working on a team and as a self-starter5 to 8 years of relevant project experience
