Overview

A Project Interior Designer combines creativity and technical knowledge while working collaboratively with team members to produce functional and inspired spaces for PBD clients. A Project Interior Designer generates and develops concepts, produces design documents, details, furniture specifications and finish palettes. A Project Interior Designer is instrumental in executing client vision and meeting deadlines; directly contributing to successful completion of multiple projects with varying deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Directly assist and mentor project team’s junior staff
  • Design and production: from programming / visioning / functional requirements to coordinating conceptual designs through contract documents and construction to ensure production of deliverables that meet PBD standards
  • Collaboratively identify “project specific and project best” without letting personal preferences dictate or impact opinions
  • Collaboratively further the design development phase by demonstrating best practices in design and FF&E requirements, while utilizing PBD standards and processes
  • Actively collaborate with and coordinate work of consultants to ensure integrated deliverables support the design goals
  • Prepare detailed documents and resolution of complex design and / or technical aspects of projects during the design and implementation phase(s)
  • Assist with checking and coordinating the project documents for all aspects to meet PBD standards and QC/QA requirements
  • Accountable to Directors / Sr Interior Designers moving projects forward following PBD standards, while also being fiscally responsible to project budgets and PBD fees
  • Work collaboratively, as part of a team to ensure work is completed effectively to client and PBD requirements
  • Understand client goals, project budget / schedule and internal targets for each project
  • Set example of team effort through the spirit of collaboration
  • Collaborate with team and design leaders to define the programmatic requirements and the right design “look and feel” per the client’s goals while seeking creative and innovative solutions through appropriate research and documentation

  • Participate in Project Close out efforts / documentation
  • Expand knowledge of PBD standards and processes
  • Expand knowledge of current, project local codes
  • Expand knowledge on current, relevant industry trends
  • Expand knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
  • Develop professional relationships with clients and external project teams
  • Actively participate in post-project review and assist in updating PBD standards and / or procedures, as determined
  • Target 90%-95% min. billable
Requirements
  • Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program
  • NCIDQ certification and/or CID
  • CEU’s as required to maintain active certification
  • LEED, WELL credentials preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with Revit, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and MS Office
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Enscape and Plan Grid
  • Solid communication skills along with verbal and graphic skills
  • Working technical knowledge of all aspects of an interiors project, with ability to work alongside teammates on project deliverables
  • Working knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
  • Participate in pitches for new work, as required
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when representing PBD
  • Foresight to know when to ask for direction, clarification, or help
  • Willingness to work extended business hours from time to time to accommodate deadlines
  • Design and production experience; from programming / visioning / functional requirements to coordinating conceptual designs through contract documents and construction to ensure production of deliverables
  • Experience working on a team and as a self-starter
  • 5+ to 10 years of interior project experience
