Your Role As a Gensler Designer
- Interiors for the Work Studio in Chicago
As a Gensler Designer, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients.
What You Will Do- Collaborate on workplace interior design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and management of budgets and schedules
- Coordinate with junior team members and Project Architects on delivery of project milestones
- Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, lighting, and furniture specifications
- Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction
- Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
- Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, consultants, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
- Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school
- 4+ years of experience as a Designer
- Proficient in Revit, Sketch Up, AutoCAD, 3D and other modeling software programs
- Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials
- Outstanding conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SPEXX a plus
- Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
- Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development
- A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
- Goals to pursue interior design certification or licensure and LEED accreditation are encouraged
- Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices;
Portfolios should include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus, which we look forward to discussing during the interview
The base salary will be estimated between $62,000-$76,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
