JLL invites you to join our interiors studio as a Technical Designer. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality design solutions across multiple projects and acting as the technical lead, producer, and client liaison.
Responsibilities- Own documentation independently or with the project team, including redline drawings, coaching and mentoring team members on technical aspects, and applying quality control policies.
- Champion firm standards for project delivery, internal quality assurance and control, and best‑practice delivery.
- Collaborate with firm Architects of Record to assure work is produced to best‑class standards, in‑line with project design intent and translatable to buildable solutions.
- Manage time to meet internal and external client deadlines while overseeing the construction administration process to ensure work products comply with documented design intent.
- Communicate concepts and ideas to others through written, drawn, and verbal means.
- Interact regularly with Studio Lead as needed for completion of assigned projects and serve as mentor to other design peers.
- Manage construction administration processes such as review of shop drawings, product data review, samples and mockups, including proper documentation filing with appropriate review and stamp notations.
- Conduct site visits as required for field verification or during construction administration phase, including completion of site reports.
- Coordinate technical design deliverables, technical detailing, and manage documentation workflows while taking on increased responsibility for quality control, clash detection, and technical problem solving.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience working on commercial interior design projects.
- Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Intermediate knowledge of building codes and accessibility guidelines, and ability to research and interpret building codes consistently with best‑practices.
- Intermediate proficiency in coordinating technical design deliverables, technical detailing, and managing documentation workflows.
- Strong space planning skills with focus on creating efficiencies while driving innovative planning.
- Ability to take on increased responsibility for quality control, clash detection, and technical problem solving, especially when coordinating across various disciplines.
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial attitude – self‑motivated, self‑managed, able to multi‑task and organize several projects at a given time.
- Excellent listening and problem‑solving skills, with ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Ability to excel under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritize assignments.
- Team player, culture‑builder who seeks out feedback and responds well to direction from others.
- Ability to work both independently and within the fabric of the design team.
Expected 20% travel to project sites as required.
This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Compensation & LocationEstimated salary: $70,000 – $90,000 USD per year. Pay will be determined by qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
