Role Overview
As a Gensler Project Architect, you will collaborate with Practice Area Leaders and Design Directors to develop design solutions and coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of projects in the life sciences and healthcare practice areas.
Responsibilities- Collaborate on design projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and documentation.
- Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
- Coordinate documentation with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, and other consultants.
- Assist in resolving complex technical and design issues.
- Manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
- Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.
- Participate in construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples.
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited school.
- Licensure required.
- 3+ years of experience with commercial architectural design.
- Experience with higher education projects (schools, colleges, and universities) preferred.
- Proficiency with Sketch Up, 3DMax, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred; strong Revit and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) is desired.
- Microsoft Office experience desired;
AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Rhino, Enscape, VRay also beneficial. - Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
- Experience working directly with contractors.
- Experience resolving complex technical and design issues.
- Experience performing zoning and code analysis in multiple jurisdictions.
- Understanding of how buildings are constructed and ability to create concise, thorough, and accurate technical documents.
- Understanding of sustainable and universal design concepts.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Previous experience in sustainable design projects preferable, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification.
The base salary will be estimated between $75,000 and $85,000 plus bonuses and benefits, contingent on relevant experience.
