HDR is looking for a Project Architect to support our integrated facility and infrastructure design team in downtown Chicago, IL. The role involves collaboration across architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil engineering disciplines, with a focus on healthcare, educational, civic, science, and research facilities.
Responsibilities- Evaluate, select, and apply standard architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria, making minor adaptations as needed.
- Perform assignments with specific objectives, investigating a limited set of variables.
- Follow instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
- Execute architectural assignments with direction, but without immediate supervision and with limited design responsibility.
- Recommend and select procedures.
- Write reports and specifications covering architectural matters.
- Take responsibility for phases of individual revenue‑producing projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Master's degree in Architecture.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or architectural consulting firm.
- Experience in healthcare, educational, civic, science, and research facilities.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up, and 3‑D Studio Max.
- Experience with Rhino and Grasshopper.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Registered Architect.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship‑management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and processes.
- Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.
- Commitment to actively participate in an employee‑owned culture.
