This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in our Chicago office 2-3 days per week and working remote from home.

Sargent & Lundy provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, design, and analysis for electric power generation and power delivery projects worldwide. With a highly professional and experienced staff solely dedicated to the energy business, we have the ability and know-how to take on the smallest tasks as well as the largest projects.

We are seeking a corporate interior space planner in our facilities team who will aid in the implementation of our company space planning activities and interior furniture buildouts.

Responsibilities
  • Office Layout Designs: Develop test fits to support office space selection during pre‑lease phase and in support of Architect and MEP Designer. Ensure all S&L policies are met, including standard finishes, privacy spaces, branding and art, kitchens and break rooms, meeting spaces, reception areas, HR boards for compliance postings, safety equipment, etc. Utilize layout design tools (CAD, laser scanning, Procore, Blue Beam, etc.)

    as necessary.
  • Furniture Selection and Layout: In coordination with the Facility Manager, work with furniture vendor to confirm S&L standard furniture specified, build full project furniture packages in a timely fashion to support office build‑out projects.
  • Assist Construction Drawing Reviews: Assist Facilities Project Manager Lead with review of Construction Drawings by base building architect to ensure Sargent & Lundy design intent, standards and quality are met.
  • Compliance and

    Risk Management:

    Ensuring all office layouts and equipment adhere to applicable federal, state, and local laws, building codes, safety guidelines (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, ADA), and Sargent & Lundy policies. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates on project status, issues, and resolutions.
  • Project Closeout and Documentation: Ensure all project activities are completed satisfactorily, obtaining necessary signoffs, archiving project documentation. Maintain as‑built documentation including facility management software, and warranties of finish material selections installed.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of construction processes, field conditions, building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), architectural principles, and relevant technology like Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) and of office furniture systems furniture (Haworth).
  • Office Set up and Decommissioning: Travel to office locations as needed and requested to support project design and construction. Assist in the set up and decommissioning of offices as needed.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture, Interior Design, or related equivalent with four (4) or more years of experience in corporate interior design.
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of corporate office furniture systems such as Steelcase, Hayworth.
  • Ability to specify furniture, fixtures, and finishes.
  • Oversee installations and resolve conflicts during installation.
  • Exhibit excellent office space planning skills.
  • Work as a detail‑oriented team player in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Work fluently in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Bluebeam, and Photoshop or Sketchup a plus.
  • Complete heavy workload within established time frames.
  • Multi‑task with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Follow through on initiatives for complete resolution.
  • Display strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Travel 35% to new office locations to confirm furniture power, field conditions and complete punch list walk downs with furniture vendors. Assist Lead Project Manager on site visits.
