HDR is seeking a Project Architect for our studio in downtown Chicago, IL. The team integrates Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Site Civil Engineering, with emphasis in healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities.

To support our growing Data Center projects, we seek a talented Architect with experience delivering under aggressive deadlines. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies, multiple trades, systems, and stakeholders, and provides mentoring to help develop design capabilities and expertise.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard architectural techniques, procedures and criteria with judgment for minor adaptations
  • Perform assignments with specific objectives, requiring investigation of a limited set of variables
  • Follow instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions
  • Perform architectural assignments with direction, but without immediate supervision and with limited design responsibility
  • Recommend and select procedures
  • Write reports and specifications covering architectural matters
  • Take responsibility for phases of individual revenue-producing projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Experience with an architectural/engineering or architectural consulting firm
  • Experience in healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch Up and 3-D Studio Max
  • Rhino and Grasshopper experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Minimum of 3 years experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and processes
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture
