ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will have a design or technical focus and be a member of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with design and technical leadership. Under the direct supervision of designated project leadership, the primary responsibilities include the following:

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • With limited direction, assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with the execution of project goals throughout all phases (Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration).
  • Assist in the development of the design including planning and three-dimensional studies.
  • Independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces to include drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, etc.
  • Provide support to the Senior Interior Designer with furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) selection, layout and specifications throughout all phases of interior design work, as required.
  • Produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Identify, research and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
  • Prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
  • Follow Cannon Design drawing standards.
  • Participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch lists. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
  • Mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in the development of project documents.
  • Actively participate and promote design quality.
  • Understand proper application of materials.
  • May perform other duties as required.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to participate in the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
  • Strong creative design portfolio is essential as are strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Travel as required.

The salary range for this position to be filled in our Chicago, IL office is $57,905 to $72,335 annually. This is the anticipated salary range at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on candidate's geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
