Role Description The Senior Interior Designer will manage residential interior design projects from concept through completion in the Chicago, IL studio. This full-time, on-site role includes developing design concepts, creating space plans, selecting finishes and FF&E, and preparing detailed drawings and presentations. Alongside the principals, the designer will collaborate with clients to understand needs and preferences, present design options, and refine solutions based on feedback.
Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with contractors, and vendors, overseeing project documentation, and ensuring design intent is executed during construction and installation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Interior Design, including concept development, material selection, and residential project execution.
- Strong Space Planning skills with the ability to create functional, refined layouts that support client lifestyles.
- Solid interior architecture understanding to integrate design seamlessly with the built environment.
- Proficiency in Construction Drawings and documentation, including plans, elevations, and details for contractor coordination.
- Hands-on experience with FF&E (furnishings, fixtures, and equipment), including sourcing, specification, and budgeting.
- Advanced skills in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sketch Up) and standard office tools.
- Strong communication with a collaborative working style.
- Proven project management skills, including scheduling, coordination with vendors and trades.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field, and several years of experience in residential design at a senior or lead level.
- Knowledge of industry standards, and best practices.
