Design Manager

Onyx Architectural Services and JLL's Cook County Healthcare portfolio team is looking for a seasoned Design Professional to create and maintain the Design Guidelines that define healthcare facilities for one of the nation's largest public health systems. You'll turn complex standards into clear, visually compelling documentation, and guide projects from equipment replacements to new construction.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain Design Guidelines that align with client standards, regulations, and industry best practices
• Lead stakeholder sessions with clinicians, administrators, and facilities teams to build consensus on design direction
• Produce polished guideline documents in Adobe In Design
• Review architectural and engineering deliverables at each milestone, flagging risks and constructability issues early
• Partner with Project Managers on scopes of work and guide AE consultants on County standards and SOPs
• Resolve design conflicts while balancing clinical needs, operations, and budget

What you bring

• Licensed Registered Architect or NCIDQ-certified Interior Designer
• Proven track record developing design guidelines or standards documentation
• Experience with Joint Commission and FGI Guidelines
• Proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam, expert-level InDesign, and strong command of Microsoft Office and Share Point
• Excellent communication, meeting facilitation, and attention to detail
• Knowledge of City of Chicago building codes and permitting
• Public agency experience in a client-facing role
• Familiarity with evidence-based healthcare design
