Overview

Be a Founding Team Member at Kïdo Chicago – River North! We’re opening Chicago’s first Kïdo campus and are seeking passionate Lead and Assistant Teachers to join our founding team. At Kïdo International Preschool, we reimagine early childhood education by blending global approaches—Reggio Emilia-inspired exploration, Montessori independence, and modern educational research—to create joyful, meaningful learning experiences for every child. As a founding team member, you’ll help shape a school that stands apart, grow with an international team of educators, and build something from the ground up in Chicago’s vibrant River North neighborhood.

Lead Teacher Responsibilities
  • Lead daily lessons using a thoughtfully developed curriculum, with opportunities to contribute your own creative ideas.
  • Create a warm, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that supports each child’s development.
  • Communicate consistently and thoughtfully with families through daily conversations, messages, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with your teaching team to deliver a consistent and high-quality educational experience.
Lead Teacher

Minimum Qualifications (Illinois DCFS Standards)
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet one of the following:
    • 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university, with at least 6 semester hours in early childhood education or child development; OR
    • A current CDA (Child Development Associate) credential and proof of enrollment in college-level coursework; OR
    • An associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Must be fluent in both Spanish and English (spoken and written).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Assistant Teacher Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Teacher with classroom preparation, routines, and learning activities.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to provide a safe, engaging environment for children.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers.
  • Be open to coaching and committed to your own professional growth.
Assistant Teacher

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Actively working toward meeting Illinois DCFS Lead Teacher qualifications.
  • Must be fluent in both Spanish and English (spoken and written).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
