** The Department of Medicine and Primary Care at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (Illinois

COM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced physician educator and leader to serve as founding faculty in Medicine and Primary Care. This full-time position is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. Academic rank to be determined by The Chicago School & Illinois

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Internal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the curriculum, support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student-focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the Illinois

COM and The Chicago School.

The founding faculty  will lead curriculum development and innovation, clinical partnerships, research initiatives, and community engagement to ensure the Illinois

COM’s program trains physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care that integrates both physical and mental health.

COM, anticipated to open for its first class of students in summer 2026 with a Mission to train exceptional physicians to leverage the interconnection of physical and mental health to provide compassionate, patient-centered care of the highest quality.
** PRINCIPAL DUTIES
** Leadership & Administration
* Provide visionary leadership for Medicine and Primary Care within the Illinois

COM.
* Work on curriculum development and assessment for the Medicine and Primary Care clinical rotations.
* Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses and content delivery as needed.
* Develop the courses marking transition between levels of training (transition to clinical rotations, transition to residency)
* Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
* Be active in  partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
* Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.

Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success
* Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum.
* Teach medical students using evidence-based instructional methods, including case-based and small-group learning.
* Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
* Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate PCOP and  Internal Medicine content across the curriculum.
* Design, develop, and deliver osteopathic content in PCOP courses appropriate to each phase of training, including classroom-based instruction, hands-on laboratory sessions, clinical integration, and assessment.

Service
* Represent the College in professional organizations and events.
* Assist where needed with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
* Participate in college and University committees.
* Support student and faculty participation in community outreach and service-learning programs.
* Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
* Engage in clinical practice (strongly encouraged).Research & Scholarly Activity
* Promote a culture of research and scholarship.
* Support faculty and student research.
* Seek external funding opportunities and partnerships to enhance research initiatives.
* Ensure ethical and regulatory compliance for research activities.
** BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
*** DO or MD degree with board certification in related specialty.
* At least five (5) years of experience in medical education, residency training, or faculty leadership.
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
* Proven ability to independently design and deliver curriculum-level content across multiple phases of medical education.
