ADJUNCTFACULTY – SPEECH (PART‑TIME)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVEReporting to an assigned Dean of Instruction, the Part‑time Adjunct Faculty position conducts formal classes and meets all lab objectives, when applicable, for assigned courses. The faculty member will teach and evaluate students, prepare and revise course syllabi and other educational materials, and contribute to the overall operation of the College, supporting its mission.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Instruct in‑person classes or online synchronous classes using Zoom.
- Design activities, assignments, and assessments to meet learning outcomes and promote active participation.
- Demonstrate flexibility with course‑related texts and materials, Brightspace, Faculty Center, and Navigate.
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and problem‑solving.
- Employ formative and summative assessments, providing prompt feedback to ensure learning outcomes are met.
- Hold office hours before or after class to help students reach academic, personal, and career goals.
- Foster a respectful classroom environment that values diversity and models confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Respond promptly to college and department communications and communicate challenges as they arise.
- Participate in department‑wide meetings and assessments outside of class time.
- M.A. in Communications, Speech, or Theatre Arts.
- Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
- Experience with diverse, multilingual student populations and a commitment to open access.
- Disposition toward developing competencies outlined in the City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
- Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS preferred.
- Prior online teaching experience (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

$800 – $943 per contact hour
