COM academic rank policy. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated educator, accomplished clinician, and innovative leader with expertise in Internal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of the curriculum, support faculty recruitment and development, and foster a collaborative, student‑focused environment that aligns with the mission and values of the Illinois

COM and The Chicago School. The founding faculty will lead curriculum development and innovation, clinical partnerships, research initiatives, and community engagement to ensure the Illinois

COM’s program trains physicians to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care that integrates both physical and mental health.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES Leadership & Administration
  • Provide visionary leadership for Medicine and Primary Care within the Illinois

    COM.
  • Work on curriculum development and assessment for the Medicine and Primary Care clinical rotations.
  • Assist curriculum development and assessment in preclinical courses and content delivery as needed.
  • Develop the courses marking transition between levels of training (transition to clinical rotations, transition to residency).
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop faculty members within the department.
  • Be active in partnerships with hospitals, clinics, and community organizations to support clinical training and research opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
Teaching, Curriculum Development, & Student Success
  • Oversee the development and delivery of an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum.
  • Teach medical students using evidence‑based instructional methods, including case‑based and small‑group learning.
  • Support student coaching, mentoring, and professional development in clinical and academic settings.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and clinical educators to integrate PCOP and Internal Medicine content across the curriculum.
