Job SummaryFrancis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 940 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced voice coach to provide both private and group lessons. We are looking for someone with experience and knowledge of vocal pedagogy to teach singing and performance skills to students primarily in grades 6-12. There are opportunities to have private lessons for younger students at our K-12 school.
In addition to working as a private voice coach, we seek a candidate with experience and interest in leading sectionals and assisting in a choral classroom setting. Close collaboration with department colleagues is necessary for implementing our curricular goals. Flexibility, creativity, and a sense of humor are highly desirable qualities.
Preferred Qualifications- Expertise with vocal instruction for high school and middle school (changing) voices.
- An ability to provide an excellent model of the treble (soprano or alto) voice.
- A sense of flexibility, collaboration, and creativity.
- Master’s in voice performance/pedagogy or a closely related discipline preferred
- Significant and diverse private and group lesson teaching experience
- Able and excited to teach a variety of musical styles (e.g., art songs, contemporary music/musical theater, pop, rock, gospel, opera)
$78 per hour; this position is not eligible for benefits.
