Catholic Theological Union is one of the largest Roman Catholic graduate schools of theology and ministry in the United States, with a diverse and international student body. CTU is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools to offer a variety of degrees that include Master of Arts (Theology), Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies, Master of Arts in Ministry, Master of Arts in Hispanic Theology and Ministry, and Doctor of Ministry.
CTU is sponsored by Roman Catholic religious institutes and societies of apostolic life, and committed to the academic, pastoral, and personal formation of students for the priesthood and lay ministers in a variety of ministries in the United States and around the world. CTU is committed to theological education and scholarship within a community of faith in interaction with a living Catholic tradition, as well as ecumenical, interfaith, and intercultural perspectives.
An application should demonstrate
- * possession of an earned doctoral degree in Catholic theological ethics or a related area of
study;
* preparation to research, publish, and teach at the graduate level in Catholic moral
theology, especially in fundamental moral theology and applied ethics (medical and
sexual ethics preferred) and /or related ethics areas;
* readiness to teach and interact interculturally with persons and theological perspectives
other than those of the European or U.S. contexts
* readiness to teach in both in-person classroom and online formats, and;
* familiarity and commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church, as well as
CTU's mission and identity.
The responsibilities of the holder of this faculty position will include
- * maintaining an agenda of publications to support an eventual application for tenure, and
active participation in the wider community of scholars
* teaching courses in the core curriculum for moral theology and ethics (in person/online/bi-modal/asynchronous options)
* service to CTU and to the wider church
* other duties include: student advising, administering comprehensive examinations, directing M.A. theses and
D.Min. thesis-projects.
The expected beginning date for the position is Fall semester 2026.
Expected Salary Range: $ 60,000-$70,000 per year.
