Archives Intern Part Time

Position Summary:

An intern for the Archives and Records Center is a temporary, part-time position, designed for students in history, public history, library sciences, or archival practices to gain real-world and practical experience in one or more of a few key areas: arrangement and description, reference services, records management, and preservation.

Responsibilities:

Depending on the project and needs/areas of interest of the student, the responsibilities may include responding to research requests and assisting in the reading room, creating finding aids for small or large collections, inventorying boxes, accompanying staff to parish and school closings, and destroying records according to retention schedules.

Requirements:

Degree or education in history, archival practice, library science, or public history.

Interest in career in archives.

Clear written and oral communicator.

Ability to lift 40 pounds.

This position has a salary of $16.60 per hour. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
