Digital Filmmaking Summer Camp Instructor (Youth and Teen)

Chicago Filmmakers is seeking instructors to teach one or more of our two-week Digital Filmmaking youth and teen summer camps. Applicants must have previous experience teaching film production and working with youth and teens.

Camps take place June through August at the Chicago Filmmakers building, 1326 W Hollywood Ave. in Chicago.

Job Description:

The Chicago Filmmakers Digital Filmmaking Summer Camp Instructor will be responsible for teaching a group of 15 students for each summer camp that they are hired. The instructor will create a two-week curriculum that starts with introducing students to basic film processes like running cameras, lights, sound, screenwriting, and editing. In each class, students will be broken up into groups of 3 or 4 to complete a short film.

The final day of each camp will feature a screening of the finished films with family in the Chicago Filmmakers theater on campus.

The instructor can teach both camp ages or just one of the two depending on experience and the need of Chicago Filmmakers.

Chicago Filmmaker provides all filmmaking equipment and can provide props if given a list of what is needed a month prior to the beginning of the camps. 1-2 Camp TAs will be provided by Chicago Filmmakers

Summer Camp

Schedule:

  • Ages 9-12 Camps:
    June 15-June 26 and July 13-24, 2026
  • Ages 13-17 Camps:
    June 29-July 10 and July 27-August 7, 2026
  • Hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 3:00PM

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children in a classroom or teaching setting
  • Prior youth camp teaching experience
  • Extremely comfortable handling kids with a wide variety of needs
  • Calm under pressure and familiarity dealing with conflict
  • Able to create their own 2-week curriculum for each camp that they are hired

Rate:

  • $42.50 per hour with each camp being 60 hours
