Overview
The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Roosevelt University invites applications for a part-time teaching position in Sociology. An M.A. in Sociology or related field is required, though some doctoral work is preferred.
The successful candidate will teach 1-2 courses per academic semester. The primary teaching responsibility will be one Introduction to Sociology course and, if desired, a 200-level course in any of these topics:
Juvenile Justice, Health and Inequality, or Social Issues. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, be comfortable in and support a working environment that fosters diversity, use technology effectively in teaching, and be committed to the advancement of social justice.
The current salary for this position is $3,982.
Primary responsibilities- Providing instruction to undergraduate students
- Teaching in multiple modalities: in-person, hybrid, and online asynchronous
- Demonstrating proficiency with online teaching technologies such as Blackboard Ultra and Zoom
- Engaging in department, college, and university service activities when appropriate

Preferred Qualifications- At least one semester of teaching experience
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds).
