Harold Washington College, a member of the City Colleges of Chicago, is seeking a Full‑Time Faculty to teach Computer Information Systems:

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for teaching and learning and is committed to the mission of the community college. The ideal applicant has a demonstrated record of success in the classroom, an ability to develop and use effective teaching strategies that meet diverse student needs, and a commitment to engaging students in critical thinking and problem‑solving.
Responsibilities
- Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their learning.
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and helps students problem‑solve using discipline‑specific thinking strategies.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and attainment of the course learning outcomes.
- Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects diversity of people and ideas, modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Contribute to and provide leadership in students’ academic and professional communities, promoting collaboration and teamwork among community members.

- Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Information Security with concentration in cybersecurity or related area of specialization, or equivalent. Industry‑recognized certifications or related work experience can substitute for the degree concentration requirement. Related specializations include, but are not limited to, Information Security, Information Systems Management, Network Security, Information Assurance, Digital Forensics, Incident Response, etc.
- Two to three years of teaching experience at the college level (preferred).
- Knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System (preferred).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students (required).
- Experience with a diverse, multi‑lingual student population and commitment to the open‑access mission of the community college (desired).
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
- Disposition toward developing the competencies outlined in the City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
- Knowledge of Brightspace or similar Learning Management System preferred; prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

A teaching demonstration will be required of selected candidates at a future date.
Salary & BenefitsSalary Range: $58,000.00 Annually; the position is represented by Local 1600 Union. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
