Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty – Computer Information Systems:
Cybersecurity

Location:

Harold Washington College, City Colleges of Chicago. The college is a member of the Caring Campus network.

We are seeking a faculty member who is passionate about teaching and learning, and who is committed to the mission of the community college.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline‑specific thinking strategies.
  • Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the course learning outcomes.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal, and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.
Qualifications

[Pursuant to the City Colleges of Chicago Credential Guidelines for the 2016/17 Academic Year.]

  • Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Information Security with a concentration in Cybersecurity or a related area of specialization, or equivalent. Industry‑recognized certifications or related work experience can substitute for the degree concentration requirement.
  • Two to three years of teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Knowledge of Blackboard Learning Management System preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students required.
  • Experience with a diverse, multi‑lingual student population desired, as is a commitment to the open‑access mission of the community college.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment.
  • Disposition toward developing the competencies outlined in the City Colleges Academic Excellence Pillars.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace or a similar Learning Management System preferred; prior experience with online teaching (via Zoom) and/or online teaching certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

A teaching demonstration will be required of selected candidates at a future date.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $58,000.00 per year. This position is represented by Local 1600 Union. The offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
