Lead & Support TAs in Songwriting, Improv, and Interdisciplinary Arts

Idea Box Integrated Arts is seeking lead and support Teaching Artists to join our cohort of interdisciplinary arts educators.

We are accepting applications from all interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary artists, but are in particular interested in the following:

  • Musical Theater composition/songwriting for beginner through intermediate youth.
  • Improv Comedy with a focus on short form and mid form skills (youth and adults)
  • Choral director and/or accompanist for a community choir (adult).
  • Musical Improv accompanists
  • General Support Teaching Artists

Idea Box teaching artists teach in teams of 2 or more

Lead Teaching artists should have a minimum of 5 years classroom experience are paid at a starting rate of $30-$40/hr ltas are paid at the same hourly rate for prep, meetings, and classroom hours.

Support Teaching Artists should have significant prior experience working with youth in or along-side the arts. This can include nanny and other child care work. Support TA's are paid at a starting rate of $20-$25/hr, and are not responsible for prep and planning outside of classroom hours.

Idea Box is an arts education nonprofit focused on interdisciplinary and niche art forms, including puppetry, fashion, cosplay, stagecraft, musical theater, upcycled arts, and more. We offer programming at both our storefront studio space and as artists-in-residence with Chicago Public Schools and similar partners. We are currently hiring for spring/summer 2026, which will include training for the 2026/27 school year.
