Job Title: English Teacher

Reports to: Principal Schedule: 10 Months
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, a Jesuit, college‑preparatory, co‑educational school serving grades 9‑12, seeks a dedicated English Teacher to join our faculty. We are looking for an educator who is committed to Catholic education and passionate about working with a diverse student population in a mission‑driven, college‑preparatory environment.
The ideal candidate embraces the formation of the whole person and is committed to supporting students in their academic growth, faith development, and dedication to service and justice.
This is primarily an English teaching position and includes teaching five sections within the English Department. Course assignments will be determined by experience and departmental needs. Depending on staffing needs and candidate strengths, the teacher may also be asked to support additional elective courses.
Qualifications- Minimum of a BA degree in subject area; MA preferred.
- Illinois Professional Educator License preferred (non‑licensed applicants must become certified within five years).
- Successful teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School; the ability to respond effectively to the needs of students.
- Understanding of educational theory and practice.
- Ability to use technology inside and outside the classroom.
- Commitment to working with a diverse student body.
- Familiarity with Spanish language and supporting first‑generation students preferred.
- Willingness to collaborate with others.
- Familiarity with current instructional methodologies.
- Classroom management skills.
