About the Position
The Department of Medical Education at the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure Foundational Sciences faculty member, eligible for the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, to join an interdisciplinary osteopathic medical curriculum. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator with expertise in Human Pathology and will contribute to curricular development, serve as Course Director or Co‑Course Director for foundational or organ system courses, engage in program and university service, and pursue scholarly activities supporting the college’s mission.
PrincipalDuties
- Teach and develop innovative, evidence‑based pathology instruction.
- Participate in curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation to promote program excellence and student success.
- Collaborate with operations personnel to facilitate curriculum delivery.
- Provide student coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for scholarly activity and professional growth.
- Represent the college in professional organizations and events.
- Assist with student recruitment and community outreach efforts.
- Participate in college and university committees.
- Support departmental vision for research and scholarship, including securing external funding and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Engage in scholarly activities aligned with faculty responsibilities.
- Terminal degree (PhD, DO, or MD) in the relevant field.
- Expertise in teaching the subject matter at the post‑secondary, graduate, or medical level.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration on a new College of Osteopathic Medicine.
- Technical competence in curriculum development, teaching materials, assessment, and continuous quality improvement.
- Commitment to making lasting changes to the Chicago healthcare landscape.
- Experience in medical education, teaching, assessment, and curriculum design.
- Experience with clinical pathology.
- Facilitation skills for case‑based and small group learning.
- Strong record of scholarship and research.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Dedication to osteopathic philosophy and to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Salary range: $100,000 to $190,000 per year, commensurate with academic rank and experience. The position is based on the Chicago, IL campus and reports to the Chair of the Department of Medical Education. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation & BenefitsThe role offers a base salary of $100,000 to $190,000 annually, with additional compensation factors possible.
