Under the supervision of the Senior Director and Assistant Director of Student Disability Services, oversees the student registration process, assists with the implementation of accommodations and services for students with disabilities, and manages requests for information from students, staff, faculty, parents and the public regarding policies and procedures governing SDS. This position has a weekly commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to requests for information from current students, prospective students, family members, faculty and staff. Meet with students and their families to orient new students to the Center's procedures and programs, as well as other New School resources.
  • Manage data entry of confidential documentation and accommodation requests into the SDS online case management system (Accommodate). Assist SDS staff with the collection of confidential student medical and other disability related records as needed.
  • Assist undergraduate FWS student employees with daily assignment of administrative functions and training of newly hired student employees on SDS policies and procedures.
  • Assist the SDS professional staff members with the implementation of specific accommodations and services, including Priority Registration, Exam accommodations, student support/outreach/onboarding of Accommodate database management system.
  • Responsible for programs, special projects or operations which may be ongoing and require planning, coordination and supervision.
  • Participate in semesterly trainings to remain up to date on the SDS Office’s best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at The New School.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Reliable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient with the Google suite of products available at The New School.
  • Able to learn and utilize database systems effectively.
  • Familiar with accessible technology.
  • Experience collecting, transcribing, and analyzing data.
  • Experience updating websites.
  • Experience working in (or being registered with) a Disability Services office.
Work Mode

Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (e.g., 1–4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

Salary

$18–$21 per hour.
